Welcome to Medical Wellness Associates Welcome to Medical Wellness Associates, one of only a few Integrative Medical facilities in the U.S. Integrative Medicine combines conventional Western medicine with alternative or complementary treatments, such as acupuncture, chiropractic, prolotherapy, homeopathy, botanical medicine, etc.—all in an effort to treat the whole person. As our name suggests, we are dedicated to helping you achieve optimum health---not just the absence of disease, but a state of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
Medical Acupuncture Medical Acupuncture is the synthesis of Western Medical Science with Traditional Chinese Medicine practices.  Traditional Chinese medicine, which developed the practice of acupuncture, was an ancient system that recognized that disease was due to imbalances in the flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”) that moves through everyone.
Prolotherapy Prolotherapy, also known as Ligament-Tendon Reconstructive Therapy is a recognized orthopedic procedure used by highly trained physicians to reduce chronic pain.  Trauma from falls, athletic injuries, car accidents, childbirth, and occupation can weaken and injure joints and the ligaments that hold them in place.  The result is chronic, often disabling pain, loss of function, and arthritis. Prolotherapy and PRP are regenerative injection therapies (RIT) that induce ligament, cartilage, tendon, and disc re-growth and regeneration.
What are IV Nutritional Therapies? Our physicians may recommend IV (Intravenous) nutritional therapies as part of your health program, to facilitate your recovery.  Some patients have impaired digestion/absorption or because of their illness (heart disease, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, cancer, allergies, etc.) require both oral and intravenous nutritional therapies.  IV therapies are also useful in nutritional detoxification programs, immune stimulation or, simply, because of depletion of your body stores.  Below is a short list of the unique IV therapies that are offered at MWA.(click on a topic for more information)

Powerful anti-oxidant found predominately in the brain and liver .  When given intravenously improves liver and brain function.  Often used for memory enhancement, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Neuropathy and Liver Disease.
Deterioration of sight, including: Cataracts, Macular Degeneration, and Diabetic Retinopathy are one of the most common problems associated with aging.  Current medical research has proven that visual decline can often be improved or reversed with anti-oxidant therapies. Special “vision drips” including anti-oxidants, fatty acids, amino acids, carotenoids, minerals, and glutathione are used individually or combined with chelation to enhance visual decline.
IV nutritional therapy that uses either Calcium EDTA or DiSodium EDTA to remove heavy metals, improve blood flow, and remove artery damaging chemicals from the blood vessels.  Some of the health conditions that benefit from chelation therapy include hypertension, heart disease, memory decline, autism, diabetic complications, and many others.

IV vitamin and mineral therapy developed in the 1970’s by John Meyer, M.D., a physician at Johns Hopkins University.  The “cocktail” is indicated for chronic fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Depression, muscle spasm,Asthma, hives, Congestive Heart Failure, Angina(chest pain), infections, and Senile Dementia.
IV protocol developed by Jonathan Wright, M.D., that infuses high concentrations of minerals to quickly boost energy and alkalinize the body<.  Rapid Mineral Replacement often has immediate health benefits for those suffering from stress related disorders, exhaustion, or a general sense of depletion.
Many patients suffer from the“yeast syndrome”, as described by William Crook, M.D., in his best selling book.  Fungus can develop and contribute to a myriad of health problems including diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple chemical sensitivities, allergies, asthma, depression/anxiety to name a few.  The ABC’S care considered to be the major triggers for this disorder—Antibiotics, Birth Control Pills, Cortisone (Prednisone), and Sugar found in the typical American diet.  IV anti-fungal drips are used to inactivate fungus and improve immune function.
For millions of Americans, migraine headaches can be disabling often leading to countless medications often replete with side effects.  The Migraine IV “cocktail”utilizes concentrations of magnesium, riboflavin, and other key nutrients to relieve acute episodes of migraine and prevent future occurrences.
High blood pressure is often associated with mineral deficiencies and heavy metal burden.  Intravenous nutritional therapy can rapidly lower blood pressure, and when used in conjunction with other lifestyle measures can reduce heart disease risk.
Used for Arrhythmia, Asthma, Diabetes and more.  Intravenous Magnesium has been shown to increase survival after heart attack.  It has the ability to smooth our arrhythmias, lowers blood pressure, and improves the outcome of patients undergoing stent placement for blocked heart arteries.  Asthmatic, COPD, and Chronic Bronchitis patients benefit from this therapy because IV Magnesium relaxes the spastic bronchial tubes (airway), associated with these disorders.  This is an important therapy for diabetics suffering from retinopathy (eye damage) and helps to improve the sensitivity of insulin.  Patients suffering from Kidney Stones, also benefit from this therapy.
Recent studies at the NIH (National Institute of Health), conducted by Harvard Medical School researcher, Mark Levin, M.D. have demonstrated the anti-tumor effect of high dosage IV Vitamin C.  This same effect does not occur with oral vitamin C.  This therapy was originally developed by Nobel Prize Winner, Dr. Linus Pauling, expanded upon by Dr’s. Klenner and Cathcart and, more recently, Hugh Rirodan, M.D. Intravenous, high-dosage Vitamin C also reduces the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation for those receiving conventional medical therapies. (For more information, check out the Moss Reports and Vitamin C and Treatment of Cancer).

MWA Testimonials

The ordeal of Sheila Kay Laney, a Mechanicstown, Ohio, homemaker in her forties, began after the birth of her third son, Dillon, all ten pounds, three ounces of him, in June 1989.  The delivery was C-section.

Gary's problems started in 1977, when he was 22-years-old, with a slight pain in the heels of both feet.

In 1993, Dawn Beals, a 37-year-old leasing administrator from Somerset, Pennsylvania, came to our clinic. She had been diagnosed with MS in 1987 and suffered from chronic fatigue, a constant sore throat, bodily aches, and recurring ear and bladder infections.

"My health is rapidly declining," she told me. "I work full-time but that is a massive feat for me. I come home exhausted and sick, eat dinner, fall into bed and wake up the same way. All my social activities have ceased to exist."
